Now Available--Paper, Scissors, Death

It's here! Paper, Scissors, Death is now available through all major booksellers and through Archivers, The Photo Memory Store.

Paper, Scissors, Death has been getting 5-star reviews and rave comments! Mystery Lovers Corner calls it, "a charming entry to the burgeoning arts and crafts sub-genre of the cozy. As the title suggests, however, not everything is cozy in the world in the homemaker and scrapbook Kiki Lowenstein. Deftly plotted, it introduces a likeable new sleuth."

What's Hot Across the Pond?

I just finished judging the Best of British Scrapbooking Contest for ScrapBook inspirations Magazine. You can read my blog post about what's hot by visiting my blog.

When the winners are announced in December, I'll share some of their layouts with you. I have to say, the talent pool was nearly overwhelming. Here's a page inspired by some of the layouts I saw-note the "stripes" of various papers, the directional arrow (very big) and the multi-level headline

Going Green with Scrapbooking

This is the time of year my mailbox is flooded with catalogs. I recycle them, but recently I had another idea: Why not use them as an album base for a scrapbook? See, I'm always hearing people say that scrapbooking is expensive. I don't believe it has to be. So I created this "green" recycled memory album. I used a 7 1/2" by 10 1/2" catalog, which came stapled together down the centerfold, and a kit I bought at Kmart for less than $5. I also added two silk "fall" leaves I found on the ground outside of Michaels. (Yes, I really am that cheap.)

Here's how it works:

  1. Strip out the pages of your catalog until you get down to oh, say, 16 or so. Make sure not to tear out the staples!
  2. Now glue together 3 or 4 consecutive pages with Yuhu or another stick glue. (Your goal is to come up with four to six inside pages.) You'll quickly see if you need to get rid of more. (The more pages you glue together, the less wiggle room you'll have to flip pages, so you do need to sort of cull down the number.)
  3. Round the corners if you wish with a punch. (I like the look of that.)
  4. Cover the cover with scrapbook paper.
  5. Cover the inside pages with scrapbook paper.
  6. Decorate!

Personal Note

Thank you all for the great response to Paper, Scissors, Death. Has your local library ordered copies? Often all it takes is a phone call from a patron asking for the library to include a certain title. Be sure to tell the library that the ISBN is 978-7387-1250-5 That will help them order the right books!

It's been a real blast getting to meet so many of you face-to-face. I've been working 12-hour days trying to keep up, but...here are oodles of virtual hugs and kisses to you all.

XOXOXOXOXOXOX
