Paper, Scissors, Death - An Agatha Award Nominee!

Paper, Scissors, Death has been nominated by the panel at Malice for Best First Novel! Only five novels were given the nod. For the past twenty years, mystery lovers and authors have gathered at Malice Domestic, a special gathering designed to honor traditional mysteries in the style of Agatha Christie. Now I've joined the ranks of such authors as Janet Evanovich and Mary Higgins Clark! How cool is that?

You can read the list of other categories and nominations at Malice Domestic. The awards will be given on May 2, 2009, in Washington DC. Keep your fingers crossed for me!

Of course you want to be the first person in your cropping circle to read Cut, Crop & Die. There's a HUGE surprise inside, and you'll want to sit there smugly when your friends ask you, "What's the bombshell?" But you won't tell them and ruin it, will you?

Just like Paper, Scissors, Death (Book #1 in the Kiki Lowenstein Scrap-N-Craft Mystery Series), Cut, Crop & Die (Book #2 in the Kiki Lowenstein Scrap-N-Craft Mystery Series) includes a coupon for 50 free digital prints-that's 50 MORE if you used the coupon in Paper, Scissors, Death! What's Hot?

The rage is 3-D embellishments that sparkle, sparkle. I decided to use up my old Crayola glitter glue. I love Stikles, but this is fun, too although the smaller tip on the Stikles makes the mixture much easier to control. K & Company charges about $4 for a set of 3-D embellishments that's perfectly lovely, but I thought I could probably make some of my own as well. The secret is to add the sparkle to a bottom layer, let it dry, and then use Pop Dots to give the pieces dimension. Check out the 3-D embellishment on Lucky.

Going Green with Scrapbooking

Here's a new use for masking tape-Take some colored masking tape and adhere it to a piece of waxed paper. Now punch along the tape. Very gently remove the masking tape from the waxed paper, and TA-DAH! You have this cool border I made in green for St. Patty's Day. (After I removed the wax paper, I stuck my tape border down on a piece of green gingham paper and I scalloped one edge with specialty scissors.

To make the pot of gold, I doodled the pot, colored in around it, put glitter in the pot, and then glued on gold sequins. Yep, 3-D is fun stuff.

And yes, that's me with Jon Bon Jovi in the sunglasses. I didn't know which guy he was! He said, "Come over here, pretty lady, and stand by me." So I did. Yes, he's a real sweetie.
